Whether you are visiting the area or live next door. Whether you want bushels of apples or enough for a few days. Picking your own apples enables you to combine the wonderful atmosphere of a Somerset orchard with the assurance of value for money and a truly fresh product.
We have a succession of varieties that ensures that there is always something to pick between July and mid October (See list of varieties below).
Early varieties will not store for very long. As a rule, apple varieties that pick before the first week in September will not store more than a week or two. Keeping apples in a fridge will help to prolong their life. To ensure that you are able to sample all our varieties throughout the season it is necessary to visit at least every fortnight. Cox and Bramley are most peoples favourite varieties for storing and providing that the apples are stored in cool dark and dry conditions they should last until Christmas. Red Pippin and Idared are two other varieties that will keep into the New Year if stored well.
It is not possible to arrange PYO for all our varieties but here is a list of what we do have available:
Vistabella.....................Sharp, distinctive bloom to the skin, very early. 
Grenadier....................Traditional early cooker, available through to
early September. 
George Cave...............Tart apple, first of the old English varieties with a familiar taste. 
Discovery................... Earliest commercial apple variety, sweet and often with a pink flesh. Katy............................Sweet, juicy apple but will not keep. James
Grieve...............Picks over a long period. Becoming quite sweet by September. Worcester
Pearmain.....Superb flavour, crisp and hard, an old favourite. Howgate
Wonder........ Dual-purpose apple, can grow to impressive size, quite sweet. Sunset.........................Similar to Cox but with a more subtle flavour. 
Cox............................ Pick mid September for storage. Edible from October onwards. Red Pippin................ Similar to Cox but stores longer. Well worth trying. 
Bramley.....................Can't be beaten. Pick in the 2nd two weeks of September for
best storage (although available from mid August) Concorde Pears.........New improved variety of pear. Can be eaten 'crunchy' but best ripe. Kidds Late Orange.... Flavour can't be beaten but it's appearance can. Blenheim
Orange.........Popular by name and nature. Prone to biennial cropping and
sells out quickly in its 'off' year. Spartan...................... Dark red skin with a bloom. Lovely flavour and texture but
has a skin a little tougher than most. Golden
Delicious.........Don't eat until golden on the tree. Mmmmm...Delicious! Idared.........................Can be picked until mid November. The later the better.
